Mira Mesa fire victims taken off life support: Thongsavath Sphabmixay now facing murder charges

SAN DIEGO - The mother and daughter injured in a house fire in Mira Mesa were taken off life support Friday, and their relative suspected in the fire will now face murder charges.
The fire occurred early Thursday in the 11200 block of Featherhill Lane. Firefighters found 69-year-old Bouakham Sphabmixay and her daughter, 48-year-old Pamela Sphabmixay in separate rooms. Both women were unconscious and transported to local hospitals where they remained in critical condition.
On Friday at about 4 p.m., both victims succumbed to their injuries after being taken off life support, police said.
The man arrested in connection with the fire, 43-year-old Thongsavath Sphabmixay, is in custody and will be charged with two counts of murder.
