CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. - Loud booms will be heard in the North County this weekend as U.S. Marines at Camp Pendleton conduct mine-clearing exercises using 1,750 pounds of linked C-4 plastic explosives, base officials announced Friday.
The exercises will run from 6 a.m. to noon Saturday, according to Camp Pendleton's public affairs office.
Depending on atmospheric conditions, the sounds of explosions may be amplified up to 50 miles away, a base statement said.
Residents with questions about the increased noise may call base officials at 760-725-0357.
