Billboards put up for captured Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl

Bergdahl only American POW in Afghanistan

SAN DIEGO - Some new billboards for an Army soldier being held prisoner in Afghanistan are showing up all around San Diego as part of an effort to bring him home.

Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl has been held by the Taliban since 2009.

"Nobody we knew at the time even knew Bowe Bergdahl, so we thought a billboard would be a great way to raise awareness," said Crissy Marsaglia, a retired Marine.

Marsaglia and her husband, who is also a retired Marine, have put a fundraiser together for one billboard.

That effort has now mushroomed to seven different cities across the country urging people to call Congress to ensure Bergdahl isn't forgotten.

"With the billboards, we want Bergdahl to be a household name," she said.

There is also a website, No One Left Behind, which raises awareness and offers the sale of T-shirts and bracelets as a way to fund more billboards.

"In the Marines, I did air support in Ramadi and Fallujah, Iraq; we always operated with the mindset of no one left behind. We have to do the same for Bowe," Marsaglia said.
