Midway 7-Eleven robbery, assault ends in chase; police say 3 people arrested

SAN DIEGO - Police in San Diego said they are investigating an early-morning robbery at a 7-Eleven store in the Midway area.

According to San Diego police, a group of people pulled into the store's parking lot on Midway Drive near Rosecrans Street at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Officers said the group went into the 7-Eleven and took a case of beer, several bottles of wine and a candy bar, and then ran out without paying. The suspects then jumped into the car where three other people were waiting.

The clerk tried to stop the group, but they punched him on the way out, according to SDPD.

Police caught up to the vehicle, thanks to a description by the clerk, on Interstate 8 east of Taylor Street.

Officers said the suspects' vehicle drove more than 110 mph during the pursuit until the driver pulled over.

10News has learned that all six people in the car are being questioned and that three have been arrested in connection with the theft from the store.
