Border Patrol: Meth, hash found hidden inside truck at San Clemente checkpoint

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. — A man was arrested Wednesday for attempting to smuggle narcotics in the cab of his Nissan truck passed the checkpoint. 

A 22-year-old man driving a 2005 Nissan Frontier was referred to secondary inspection at about 7:00 p.m. where a K-9 alerted Border Patrol agents to the front doors of the truck. 

There they found 73 pounds of methamphetamine wrapped in 59 bundles, and 4.5 pounds of hashish wrapped in two bundles. The estimated valued of both narcotics combined was $473,960.
