SAN DIEGO - A suspected hit-and-run driver is under arrest Wednesday after he rammed another vehicle while in a meat delivery truck and fled the scene.
The crash happened at 11 p.m. Tuesday in the 3400 block of Sports Arena Blvd.
The Prime Selections delivery truck was traveling southbound on Sports Arena when it rear-ended a black Toyota Prius.
The collision destroyed the Prius and sent the truck into bushes. Witnesses said the driver fled the scene on foot.
The woman driving the Prius sustained major injuries to the face, back and neck. She was taken to an area hospital.
Officers located the truck driver at a gas station on Tecolote Road and Morena Boulevard. Initial reports indicate that the man ran at least a couple of miles away and crossed a freeway to get to the gas station. While there, he asked an employee to call his fiancee.
10News learned the man could be facing DUI and hit-and-run charges.
