SAN DIEGO - San Diego Mayor Bob Filner refused to talk with 10News on Monday, avoiding a 10News camera at City Hall.
Just after 8:30 p.m. Monday, when the mayor finally came downstairs from his office, he was alerted to a 10News camera by his two security guards and turned around and walked back inside.
10News' camera was rolling as he turned around and went back toward the elevators, headed for a different exit.
It was the similar scenario for most of the day on Monday as he barricaded himself inside his office. He and his staff kept selected reporters and photographers waiting, including 10News.
He has refused to speak with 10News after a series of Team 10 investigations exposed some questionable dealings with a developer and ultimately brought to light allegations of sexual harassment.
Though he closed the door on 10News cameras in his office waiting area, he did speak with KUSI and said his actions with women have been misunderstood.
"I'm a very demonstrative person," Filner told KUSI. "I express myself demonstratively. I'm a hugger of both men and women. And if it turns out that those are taken in an offensive manner, I need to have a greater self awareness about what I am doing, and we will correct that. And I am taking those steps."
A sexual harassment claim against Filner is expected to be filed at City Hall in the coming days.
