Massive asteroid zips by Earth

A massive asteroid flew closely by the Earth on Monday night.

Asteroid 2000 EM26 sped by at 27,000 miles per hour. Experts said the closest it came to the Earth was 2.1 million miles.

The asteroid, which was documented by Slooh Space Camera in a live webcast, was estimated at 885 feet wide.

The Asteroid came one year after a 65-foot asteroid injured 1,500 people in Chelyabinsk, Russia. Winners at the Winter Olympics in Sochi are currently receiving medals with small fragments of the asteroid.
