Marines, Navy thanked for help during wildfires

SAN DIEGO - Some San Diego County residents affected by last week's wildfires thanked Marine Corps and Navy pilots for their help in the firefighting efforts with a special message outside of Camp Pendleton.

The words "THANK YOU" were written on sand outside of the base on May 16, and they meant for the military personnel who provided support during last week's fires around the county.

Marines from the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing helped firefighters on the ground fight the fires, base officials said.
