CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. - A Navy corpsman was killed during a training exercise at Camp Pendleton over the weekend, Marine officials said Tuesday.

On Dec. 9, Petty Officer 3rd Class Wilson Won Lee, 23, died in a vehicle accident during an exercise at the base, according to 1st Marine Logistics Group officials.

Lee, of Lakewood, Calif., joined the Navy in February 2008 and served two combat deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (2009, 2011), according to base officials. He was a corpsman with Combat Logistics Battalion 1, Combat Logistics Regiment 1, 1st Marine Logistics Group.

A statement from officials noted Lee's personal service awards, which include the Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, NATO Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (second award), and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (second award).

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
