Man wounded in shooting near Grant Hill Park

SAN DIEGO - A gang-related shooting near Grant Hill Park early today left a 23-year-old man hospitalized with a gunshot wound to his leg, a police officer said.
The victim was with a group of people in the front yard of a residence in the 2700 block of K Street shortly before 2:30 a.m. when they were approached by another group, whose members issued a gang challenge and began throwing rocks, San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros said.
During the altercation a suspect pulled a gun and opened fire, striking the victim in his leg, according to the officer.
The wounded man was taken to a hospital to be treated for the non-life-threatening injury, Delimitros said.
