Man wounded in Escondido shooting: Victim shot in back of head

ESCONDIDO, Calif. - A man was wounded in a shooting in Escondido, but was expected to survive, police said Saturday.

The victim was shot in the back of his head shortly after 11 p.m. Friday in the vicinity of East Ohio Avenue and North Cedar Street, Escondido police Sgt. Scott Walters said. He was taken to a hospital, and his injury was described by police as not life-threatening.

Information about a suspect was not immediately available.
