An officer with the San Diego police department attempted to pull over a small black pick-up truck near Euclid and University Avenue for an expired registration Tuesday night.

The driver failed to yield and led officers on a nearly 10 minute pursuit that took officers on surface streets and state Route 94, Interstate 805 and Interstate 15.

The driver finally stopped the truck near 46th Street and Madison Avenue in City Heights. The driver and passenger took off running in different directions.

The driver was arrested with assistance of ABLE, the San Diego police helicopter.

The female passenger was also detained by police.

According to police, it is unknown why the driver led police on a chase as the truck was not stolen and the driver did not have any outstanding warrants.
