The stabbing at KK Market on the 1200 block of Lakeshore Drive was reported at 7:25 p.m. Thursday, according to San Diego County sheriff's Sgt. Scott Enyeart.

The victim was not immediately able to talk to investigators but a witness reported that the assailant was a bald Hispanic man wearing a baggy white T-shirt and baggy blue jeans, the sergeant said in a statement. He fled on foot.

The motive behind the violence is under investigation.

Paramedics took the victim to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where the victim was expected to survive following emergency life-saving efforts, Enyeart said.

Anyone with information about the fight was urged to call the sheriff's detectives at (619) 956-4000.
