ENCINITAS, Calif. - San Diego County sheriff's deputies on Sunday sought a gunman who held up a Chinese restaurant in Encinitas.

The robber, with a yellow bandanna covering part of his face, walked into the Golden Bowl at 1337 Encinitas Blvd. about 7:55 p.m. Saturday, said Sgt. Pat Shannon, who is with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

"The suspect motioned to the owner of the restaurant to lie on the floor," Shannon said. "The owner ran outside and screamed for help."

The robber took the cash drawer and fled, the sergeant said. He was described as a heavy-set Hispanic man who was about 5 feet tall and 20 to 30 years old, Shannon said.
