SAN DIEGO - A 57-year-old man suspected of robbing a bank on Saturday was seen leaving in a cab and was later arrested.
The man, identified as Andrew Geils, entered Citibank at 755 Broadway Circle in Horton Plaza at 12:24 p.m. and gave a demand note to a teller, San Diego Police officer Frank Cali said.
"Geils was given an undisclosed amount of money and was seen getting into a cab and leaving northbound on Broadway Circle," Cali said.
Cali said the Association for Better Living and Education (ABLE), a nonprofit that works to combat drugs and crime, assisted in locating the cab, which was stopped by police on southbound state Route 125.
"Geils was detained and then positively identified by employees of the bank," said Cali, who added that Geils was held on suspicion of bank robbery.
Cali said Geils matched the description of two previous bank robberies. The robbery unit is continuing to investigate.
