Man stuck in razor wire on along border fence in Otay Mesa rescued

Border Patrol took uninjured man into custody

SAN DIEGO - A man allegedly trying to sneak into the United States over the border fence in Otay Mesa Tuesday afternoon became stuck in barbed wire on top of the barrier and had to be rescued by emergency personnel.

The stranded man was discovered shortly before 4 p.m. near the southern terminus of La Media Road, near Brown Field airport, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Firefighters used a ladder truck to get to the uninjured man, who was about 20 feet above the ground, SDFRD spokesman Maurice Luque said. It took about an hour to free him, after which he was turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol, according to Luque.
