Man Struck By Patrol Car While Fleeing Police

Man, 18, Hospitalized After Being Hit Near Woodman Street

An 18-year-old driver who fled San Diego police suddenly stopped the vehicle, got out to run and was struck by a police car, an officer said Saturday.

The man, whose name police withheld, suffered serious leg injuries and was taken to a hospital after the accident on Woodman Street, Officer David Stafford said.

Police tried to the stop the driver for an unspecified traffic violation near Imperial Avenue and Woodman Street about 11 p.m., and the accident happened a few minutes later, he said.
