SAN DIEGO - A man in his 40s was hospitalized Friday after being stabbed in the chest, back and abdomen by a fellow transient in the Marina area, but the victim was expected to survive, police said.

The stabbing in the 100 block of Harbor Drive was reported at 8:47 p.m. Thursday, according to San Diego police Officer David Stafford, adding that the assailant ran off.
