LA MESA, Calif. -
A man waiting at a bus stop on Baltimore Drive near Interstate 8 was robbed at knifepoint Saturday as a car swooped up and a man with a knife jumped out to accost him, police said.
The victim was waiting at a bus stop on Baltimore Drive near Fletcher Parkway at 6:05 a.m. Saturday when a gold-colored, 4-door sedan traveling southbound on Baltimore Drive stopped in front of him.
"A male exited the front passenger seat and held a knife to the victim's side while a female passenger in the vehicle grabbed the victim's backpack," said La Mesa Police Department Sgt. Katy Lynch. "The male and female suspects got back into the vehicle, which was occupied by an additional male passenger and was driven by a second female."
The victim ran to a nearby gas station to call police, as the car sped to the south on Baltimore, Lynch said. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects or their vehicle.
The victim sustained a minor scratch to his side but did not require medical treatment.
