SAN DIEGO - A drive-by shooting into a garage killed a man in a San Diego neighborhood, a police lieutenant said.
Officers responded to the sound of gunfire at 7:57 p.m. Saturday in the 6200 Block of Alderley Street, said Lt. Jorge Duran in the San Diego police Homicide Unit.
“As officers checked the area, they were flagged down and directed to a shooting victim,'' Duran said. “The male had suffered at least one gunshot wound.''
The officers performed CPR on the victim until paramedics arrived a short time later, he said. Despite their efforts, the man died at the scene.
“Initial information indicates three males were standing in the garage of the residence with the garage door open, when a dark colored vehicle drove by,'' Duran said. “The vehicle slowed as it drove in front of the residence and an occupant of the vehicle fired several rounds from a handgun into the garage, striking the victim.''
The victim's name was not released pending notification of his family, Duran said.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact homicide detectives at 619-531-2293, or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
