Man in parking garage arson sought

SAN DIEGO - Arson investigators are hoping surveillance video will help them find a man suspected of intentionally setting a truck on fire at a Sharp hospital parking garage in January.

On Jan. 27, an unidentified man entered the parking structure near Sharp Mary Birch Hospital (3000 block of Health Center Drive) in what authorities say was a stolen Ford truck.

In surveillance footage, the man parks the truck on the fourth level of the garage, and he is then seen standing near the front of the vehicle when it begins to catch fire.

The man then removes a bicycle from the truck and rides away.

Fire crews were able to extinguish the flames, but not before the blaze damaged at least three vehicles and part of the parking structure.

The fire caused about $150,000 in damage, authorities said.
