Man hurt in Chollas View drive-by shooting

SAN DIEGO - A man is expected to survive after being hurt in a drive-by shooting while walking in Chollas View Friday night.

The shooting occurred at about 8:30 p.m. in the area of Euclid Avenue and Groveland Drive. The victim was shot three times as he walked to a liquor store, San Diego police said.

He called his family, who contacted 911. The victim was taken by ambulance to Scripps Mercy Hospital with serious injuries.

Police said there were at least two people in the suspect's vehicle. One of the passengers allegedly exited the car, shot the victim and then got back in and sped away. Investigators are searching for a gold-colored car. No further details were released.

The victim was not immediately identified. A possible motive for the shooting was not confirmed.
