Man found fatally shot after residents report gunfire, speeding car in Otay Mesa

OTAY MESA WEST (KGTV) -- San Diego police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened in the Otay Mesa West Community early Saturday morning.
 
The shooting was reported at 3:55 a.m. by someone who discovered a man injured in the street in the 900 block of Picador Boulevard, about two blocks south of Palm Avenue.
 
Responding officers found an unconscious 48-year-old Hispanic male in the street with an apparent gunshot wound to his upper body.  
 
"Despite the efforts, the shooting victim was pronounced dead at the scene," San Diego police Lt. Manny Del Toro said.
 
Nearby residents told investigators they heard gunfire and a vehicle fleeing the area at a high rate of speed.  There is no suspect description at this time.
 
The victim has been identified but the name is not being released until family members are notified.  The victim is believed to be a resident of Imperial Beach, Del Toro said.
