Homicide detectives investigating after man found dead in Carlsbad home

Another injured person also taken to hospital

CARLSBAD, Calif. - Homicide detectives are investigating a suspicious death in a home in Carlsbad.

The incident was reported at about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 3500 block of Sierra Morena Avenue.

Neighbors have been wary of the home for a while. They said there was a young man living there with his father and a roommate and often acting out.

Erin Berg lives next door.

"He sings along to weird music and plays loud music all the time and chants, kind of … starts fires and dances around them a little bit," she said. "He's a little strange."

Cole Ivanovich installed a security system at Berg's home.

"I installed several cameras on the home because they noticed some potential break-ins … weird noises coming from the house next door, strange happenings," Ivanovich said. "The guy would burn things in the backyard. Just odd things … people coming at all times of the day."

Late Wednesday afternoon, there was a 911 call from that house.

Carlsbad Police Lt. Bruce Gray told 10News, "…called and said somebody had been shot."

Police and paramedics responded to find one man wounded and another dead.

"About a 25-year-old white male," said Gray.  "He was found in a bedroom up on the second floor of the residence."

The injured man was taken to a hospital for treatment and police questioning.

More details will be posted as they become available.
