SAN DIEGO - Homicide detectives Friday investigated the fatal stabbing of a 52-year-old man in downtown San Diego.
Officers were called to the 600 block of Market Street shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday. Once there, they found the victim in need of medical attention, San Diego police homicide Lt. Mike Hastings said in a statement.
Paramedics took the man to a local hospital, where he died a few hours later, according to Hastings.
"It has not been determined what precipitated the assault," he said. "Detectives and forensic specialists are ... processing the scene for evidence and trying to local witnesses."
Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call police at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
