SAN DIEGO - A 36-year-old San Diego man was killed Sunday when his car crashed into and became wedged under a jack-knifed semi truck on Interstate 805, authorities reported Monday.
That driver and a passenger were headed north on the freeway near 47th Street in a Toyota Yaris shortly after 5 a.m. when the vehicle ran into the rig that had blocked all the northbound lanes, according to the Medical Examiner's Office.
A pickup also became involved in the crash, according to a San Diego Fire-Rescue Department dispatcher.
The Yaris' driver died at the scene, the Medical Examiner's Office said. His name was not immediately released pending family notification.
The car's passenger was taken to a hospital in an unknown condition, Medical Examiner's Office said.
Two other people were also taken to hospitals, fire officials said.
