SAN DIEGO - A man convicted in the death of a woman whose body was found in a trash bin has been denied a request for parole.
Thomas Patterson Jr. was sentenced to 15 years to life in the death of Cathi Stubin.
Stubin's dismembered body was found dumped in a trash bin in Clairemont in the 1980s.
He had a hearing scheduled for Monday but that was almost canceled. On his way to the hearing, he complained about a heart problem, but it was later discovered to be a lie.
The board decided to hear the matter and they denied his request for parole for another 10 years, which would be when he is 72 years old.
