Man carjacked at knifepoint in Oak Park

SAN DIEGO - A man was carjacked at knifepoint in the parking lot of an Oak Park-area store, a police officer said Wednesday.

The victim was in his white Honda Fit parked near the Rite Aid at Euclid Avenue and Federal Boulevard shortly before 9 p.m. when the carjacker approached him and pulled the knife, San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros said.

He demanded the victim's car and a physical fight ensued in which the suspect claimed to have a gun, Delimitros said. The victim then gave up his car and watched as the suspect drove out of the parking lot, according to the officer.

Police described the carjacker as a heavyset Hispanic man with a small goatee. He was wearing a gray t-shirt and green shorts.
