SAN DIEGO - A young motorist was arrested Friday on suspicion of fleeing after striking a drunken pedestrian who stepped into oncoming traffic at a Valencia Park intersection.
David Allen Green, 22, was headed east in a 1990 Acura sedan on Churchward Street when a man in his 30s walked in front of him at Euclid Avenue about 8:20 p.m. Thursday, according to San Diego police.
Green allegedly drove out of the area following the crash, which left the intoxicated pedestrian hospitalized with a compound leg fracture and a broken arm.
Shortly before 1:30 a.m. Friday, Green called police from a relative's home near the scene of the accident and said he wanted to give a statement. Officers went to the residence, spoke with Green and then arrested him on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
Green was being held at the San Diego Central Jail on $50,000 bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
