Man arrested in Oceanside bank robbery; police say Herbert Paquette confessed to the crime

OCEANSIDE, Calif. - An Oceanside man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of robbing a bank last month in his coastal North County hometown.

Herbert Paquette, 41, allegedly used a demand note to steal an undisclosed amount of cash at the Chase branch office in the 4100 block of Oceanside Boulevard on the afternoon of Nov. 30.

Surveillance photos and physical evidence left at the crime scene led investigators to identify Paquette as the suspected bandit, Lt. Aaron Doyle said.

Paquette, who allegedly confessed to the crime during questioning, was booked into county jail in Vista. He was being held on $100,000 bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
