Man arrested in Carlsbad after high-speed chase

A man was in custody today on suspicion of leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase from Hillcrest to Carlsbad, authorities said.
The pursuit began in the Hillcrest area around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday and ended in the vicinity of Palomar Airport Road and Paseo Del Norte, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Both the CHP and San Diego police chased the suspect across Interstates 8 and 5 and various side streets at speeds up to 110 miles per hour.
In addition to arresting the man, authorities detained several passengers who were in his vehicle during the pursuit. Just before the pursuit began, an officer had tried to pull the man over for an unknown traffic violation.
