Man arrested for allegedly beating brother to death in San Diego

SAN DIEGO - A Minnesota man was arrested Thursday in connection with the beating death of his younger brother at their father's northern San Diego County home, authorities reported.

Michael Vincent Young, 56, confronted his 51-year-old sibling, Robb, about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday and accused him of being too noisy at the house in the 1700 block of Victoria Way in San Marcos, according to sheriff's officials.

An argument and fistfight ensued, and the scuffling brothers wound up in the front yard, where the younger one was knocked out, Lt. Glenn Giannantonio said.

The older brother then went back inside, leaving the other man lying on the ground. About 40 minutes later, Michael Young went outside to check on his
sibling and found that he was not breathing, the lieutenant said.

Michael Young attempted to resuscitate his brother, then flagged down a passing motorist and asked her to call 911. The woman's husband and medics also tried in vain to save Robb Young, who was pronounced dead at a hospital.

An autopsy showed that the victim, also a Minnesota resident, died of blunt-force injuries to his head.

Michael Young was arrested and booked into county jail in Vista on suspicion of voluntary manslaughter. He was being held on $100,000 bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Monday afternoon.
