Magnitude 6.8 quake strikes along Mexican coast

TECPAN DE GALEANA, Mexico - A magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck near the Mexican coastal city of Tecpan de Galeana Thursday morning.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake hit at about 9 a.m. Pacific Time, with an epicenter 8 miles southwest of Tecpan de Galeana.

The quake was reportedly felt as far north as Mexico City, which was 188 miles from the epicenter.
