SAN DIEGO - A group of World War II veterans from San Diego are on a tour of duty they will likely remember for the rest of their lives. They are the guests of the Honor Flight Network, that traveled to Washington, D.C. to visit the World War II Memorial.
Moses Martin, 92, was an aviation machinist for the Navy during the final years of the war.
"I knew every part on those engines," he told 10News.
Although Martin never saw any action, he lost friends in the war.
"I'd like to pay them a little respect," he said, adding that he hopes to find their names at the memorial this weekend.
Eighty-five veterans are part of the trip, which ends with a hero's welcome Sunday as they return home from the nation's capital.
