SAN DIEGO -
A teen linked to the death of his friend at a Poway home last year faced a judge in juvenile court Thursday.
On Nov. 4, 2011, Poway teen Luke Lipscomb was shot to death after investigators said he and two friends got high on marijuana laced with a hallucinogen.
The teen's hearing comes just days after one of the teens' father, Kevin Brennick, was arraigned on a charge of having a loaded firearm and causing death or bodily injury.
According to investigators, Lipscomb was killed using Brennick's rifle. Brennick was not home at the time of the shooting.
Lipscomb died 10 days after the incident.
The Lipscomb family wants to see justice, and they pleaded to the City Council for help.
"Any illegal behaviors substantiated by the investigation should be prosecuted and not set aside for any reasons of the laws …," said Lisa Lipscomb.
The teen's next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 16.
The judge did not allow the media inside the courtroom for Thursday's hearing.
NOTE: On our 5 p.m. newscast on Oct. 16, we reported that Clay Brennick would be in juvenile court on Oct. 18 to face charges. This was an error, and Clay Brennick is not under any criminal investigation. We apologize for this mistake.
