Local gas prices drop to $3.85 a gallon

The streak of falling gasoline prices in San Diego County extended Tuesday to a 36th day, but barely, as the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular fell one-tenth of a cent to $3.858, its lowest amount since Aug. 4.
The average price has dropped 86.7 cents over the past 36 days, including eight-tenths of a cent on both Sunday and Monday, after rising 54.7 cents over the previous six days to a record high of $4.725 on Oct. 8, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 9.7 cents less than one week ago and 80.9 cents lower than one month ago, but 2.7 cents more than one year ago.
