Undercover agents on Tuesday arrested a man accused of child molestation who had been on the run for months.

Jeffrey McPherson, 41, was arrested by agents with the San Diego Fugitive Task Force in Lakeside for failing to show up to court in December for child molestation charges.

McPherson is accused of using MySpace to befriend a 16-year-old boy and molesting him over a period of nine months.

Sgt. Russ Moore with the San Diego Fugitive Task Force said, "Child molesters are most definitely one of our prime targets."

Moore, who also arrested John Gardner, believes child predators are especially dangerous because they blend right in with others.

"He doesn't stick out any more than anyone else, but in the Internet world he's a somebody and little kids might look up to him or get lured in by whatever scam he's using," he said.

McPherson initially said nothing as officers arrested him, but one question finally forced McPherson to open up.

"Did you meet him on the Internet?" asked 10News reporter Itica Milanes.

"Uh, no, no, no. It was not the Internet," said McPherson. "There's a ton of lies. I have police documentation proving lies."

McPherson was taken to the county jail and is being held on a $300,000 bond.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday in El Cajon.
