Jury deliberations began Thursday in the trial of a young man accused in the fatal shooting of an El Capitan High School student whose body was found on the Barona Indian Reservation last fall.

Stanley Virgil Lloyd Jr., 19, is charged with first-degree murder in October 2010 death of 17-year-old Christopher Carioscia.The Lakeside teen went missing Oct. 26, 2010, after telling his family he was going surfing in Pacific Beach. The next day, his burned-out car was found on the tribal grounds south of Ramona, and on Dec. 4, detectives found his body near the San Vicente Reservoir.Lloyd was arrested at his Lakeside home in March. A friend of the defendant told detectives that Lloyd grew tired of buying Xanax, which is used to treat anxiety, from Carioscia and hatched a plan to steal drugs from the victim and kill him, Prosecutor David Williams III alleged.Sheriff's authorities said Carioscia was shot several times with a .357-caliber handgun sometime between the evening of Oct. 26, 2010, and the morning of Oct. 27, 2010.Lloyd faces 50 years to life in prison if convicted, Williams said.Copyright Do you have more information about this story?
