SAN DIEGO - Two weeks after a biker brawl erupted on Interstate 15 – leaving two people stabbed – no arrests have been made.
The melee occurred near Temecula on the evening of March 22.
The statewide feud between the Mongols and Hells Angels dates back four decades, blazing a trail of bodies and violence.
In late March, the rivalry reignited on the northbound I-15 near state Route 76. Investigators say two Mongols bikers were being chased by another larger group of bikers just before 6 p.m. Near Temecula, the Mongols got reinforcements.
According to a witness, about a 1/4 mile from the Border Patrol checkpoint, dozens of Mongols bikers were blocking traffic, surrounding another group of bikers and kicking them off their bikes.
The fight then moved to the shoulder of the highway. The witness then saw weapons come out, including shovels, crowbars, bats, knives, hammers and screwdrivers.
By the time deputies arrived, all were gone except for two injured Hells Angels bikers. One was stabbed eight times.
Both were treated at hospitals and have since been released. Both refuse to talk about who injured them.
Investigators are looking for witnesses and cellphone video. If you have any information, you are asked to contact the Riverside County Sheriff's Department at 951-696-3000.
