(KGTV) - An inmate firefighter walked away from the Canyon 2 Fire in Orange County and has not been found, officials said Monday.

Armando Castillo, 31, is assigned to Oak Glen Conservation Camp in Yucaipa. He was fighting flames near Peters Canyon Regional Park on Sunday, October 15, and did not return with other crews that night.

California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation officials, Cal Fire, the California Highway Patrol and other law enforcement agencies are looking for Castillo.

He was committed to CDCR in August of 2016 from Los Angeles County to serve a five-year sentence for possession of a firearm and evading a peace officer while driving recklessly.

Castillo is Hispanic, 5’11” tall, 191 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
