Injuries reported after tree falls at UC San Diego

Man, pregnant woman hospitalized

SAN DIEGO - A man and a pregnant woman were hospitalized Wednesday after a tree fell on them at the UC San Diego campus.

San Diego Fire-Rescue Department officials said the incident happened at the campus on Gilman and Myers drives at about 2 p.m.

The pregnant woman and man were taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla with injuries of unknown severity.

No other injuries were reported.

10News learned the acacia tree's weakened roots may have caused it to fall.

School officials will be using X-ray technology to check other trees on campus, 10News learned.
