A woman accused of fatally stabbing her physician-husband in their North Park condominium because she suspected he was being unfaithful pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a murder charge.Jennifer Trayers, 42, denied the charges from her hospital bed at Scripps Mercy Hospital, where she was taken after being discovered Monday morning near the body of Dr. Frederick Trayers, a surgeon at Balboa Naval Medical Center.The 41-year-old victim had been stabbed in the chest, back and back of the neck, said Deputy District Attorney Fiona Khalil.Police went to the residence around sunrise because the victim had failed to show up to work for several days, homicide detectives said.When discovered on the opposite side of the bed from the victim, the defendant had superficial and self-inflicted cuts to her body, Khalil said.Defense attorney Kerry Armstrong told reporters his client has "has pretty severe stab wounds to her abdomen."Co-defense counsel Marc Kohnen added, "She was in critical condition and brought here on her deathbed."Judge Leo Valentine Jr. ordered the defendant held on $2 million bail.Khalil told the judge that the defendant had sent an e-mail to a woman with whom she suspected her husband was having an affair, stating that she -- the defendant -- would be the last person he would be with.Detectives said the victim may have been killed as early as Saturday.Cmdr. Michael Matteucci at Naval Medical Center San Diego reflected told 10News, "I think he was one of the finest residents I've ever worked with
a fine person."The prosecutor said two knives were recovered, one in the bed sheets and one on the bedroom floor.Trayers faces 26 years to life if convicted.A status conference was set for Dec. 30 and a preliminary hearing for Jan. 7.
