SAN DIEGO - An infant died under suspicious circumstances in Logan Heights Friday, prompting a homicide investigation, authorities reported.
Patrol officers responding to an emergency call from a home in the 1000 block of South 30th Street shortly before 8:30 a.m. found a woman holding an unconscious 3-month-old girl, according to San Diego police.
Medics pronounced the child dead at the scene, San Diego police Lt. Jorge Duran said.
An autopsy is planned.
There were no immediate arrests. The lieutenant declined to disclose why homicide detectives were called in to investigate the death.
