ICE prisoner injured after driver runs downtown San Diego red light

SAN DIEGO - A female prisoner was injured early Tuesday after a car ran a red light.

A car apparently ran a red light on 7th Avenue and Market Street causing the driver of a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement van to slam on his brakes around 3:30 a.m. A female prisoner inside the van was thrown forward into the metal cage and injured her head, according to the San Diego Police Department.

The prisoner was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, said police.

No other information was available.
