Stolen car chase ends in arrest on I-8

SAN DIEGO - Police captured a suspect following a pursuit with a stolen car that wound its way from Ocean Beach onto the Interstate-8 freeway overnight Thursday.

According to San Diego police, the chase began at about 10:15 p.m. Thursday when officers used a LoJack tracking device to locate a stolen car at the intersection of Sunset Cliffs and West Point Loma boulevards.

When officers arrived the driver took off, leading them on a chase, which spilled onto the freeway. San Diego police used spike strips to deflate the tires, sending the driver crashing into a freeway embankment.

After a struggle, officers arrested the driver. He was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
