Power restored in San Marcos after planned outage

More than 2,800 San Diego Gas & Electric customers were without power for nearly 12 hours in the fire-ravaged San Marcos area overnight Monday.
The outage struck at 6:30 p.m. Monday and included the unincorporated Harmony Gove and Lake Hodges areas, according to SDG&E. Power was restored at about 6 a.m. Tuesday
The utility did not immediately disclose the cause. However, Tuesday morning, SDG&E said the outage was  planned in advance so that crews could replace power lines that were damaged in the massive fire.
The nearly 2,000-acre wildfire erupted south of Highway 78 for unknown reasons Wednesday afternoon, destroying more than three dozen structures over several days. It was 91 percent contained as of Monday evening, according to Cal Fire.
