The horse was found in the yard of a home at 991 East 116th Place, said Sgt. Michael Castaneda of the Los Angeles Police Department's Southeast Station.

The horse was missing for about 30 minutes until LAPD officers spotted the animal, Castaneda said.

"I think those officers did a great job," he said, adding that the animal probably ran off from stables about a mile down the road.

Police summoned City of Los Angeles Department of Animal Regulation officials to pick up the horse, Castaneda said.
