SAN DIEGO - Homicide detectives Friday investigated the suspicious death of a 9-month-old boy who sustained a fatal head injury at his home in Central San Diego.
The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department responded to a report of a boy who fell off a bed at an apartment on the 2300 block of Euclid Avenue around 3 p.m. Thursday.
The baby was transported to Rady Children’s Hospital where he later died, according to San Diego Police Lieutenant Mike Hastings.
Homicide detectives arrived at the hospital around 7 p.m and questioned the baby’s parents and family members. Police said it appears the baby had sustained blunt force trauma to the head.
Officials did not release the identity of the boy. The death is being investigated as a suspicious death. An autopsy will be performed Friday or Saturday to determine the exact cause of death.
