Body found in trunk of car in Kearny Mesa; Vehicle belongs to missing woman Grace Anne Hall

Police working to identify body

SAN DIEGO - A car discovered with a body in the trunk is registered to a San Diego woman missing since March.

Police Thursday said the 1997 Toyota Camry was located at a Kearny Mesa business complex in the 7700 block of Convoy Court shortly before 9:30 a.m.

10News learned the car belongs to Grace Anne Hall, who was last seen March 20 in the area of 9100 Rebecca Avenue in Serra Mesa.

Hall was last seen March 20 in the area of 9100 Rebecca Avenue in Serra Mesa, police said.

Police have not yet confirmed the identity of the deceased person.

Police said the person's body was found inside the trunk of the vehicle, and the circumstances prompted police to call in homicide investigators.

"They were taking pictures of what was in the trunk, it looked like clothes or something," said Mary Zandi, who works nearby.

Detectives told 10News the victim was clothed and not tied up.

"I can tell you there was some trauma to the body, we don't know if that's what caused the death," said San Diego police Lt. Jorge Duran.

Detective say the injury was either blunt force trauma or stab wounds.

They have yet to rule the case a homicide, and while detectives say they've seen a few suicides with a body found in a trunk, they told 10News it's not likely.

"When the victim is found in a trunk, it's usually foul play; they didn't voluntarily go into the trunk, let's put it that way," said Duran.

For many who worked around the area, the car was a familiar sight.

"They noticed it's been there long; same spot, hasn't moved at all," said Michael Lopez.

10News learned some workers noticed the car parked there for at least 2 to 3 weeks.
